Understanding chargeable weight
Carriers charge on whichever is greater: the actual weight of your parcel, or its volumetric weight, calculated as length × width × height (cm) ÷ 6000 for air. Normal vs sensitive goods
Most everyday items (clothes, bags, toys, furniture) ship as normal goods. Sensitive goods — snacks, cosmetics, anything with a battery, liquids, powders — ship on a sensitive method and may need prior approval and an MSDS. Customs, GST & duties in Singapore
Singapore values imports using the CIF method (cost + insurance + freight). Shipments valued above S$400 attract 9% GST, collected by Singapore Customs on import; most consumer goods carry 0% duty, while controlled and dutiable goods (e.g. liquor, tobacco) follow separate rules.
